Singleton Computing

Today, there are over 1 million computer viruses and other forms of malware targeting unsuspecting computer user’s every day.

How to tell if you have a Virus

Symptoms from a computer virus can vary based on the type of virus and how much damage has been caused.

You may experience applications crashing, a sudden reduction in computer performance or notice an array of unwanted pop-ups. Another possible sign is the presence of 3rd party software or web browser add-ons that weren't installed by you.

Some viruses present no symptoms at all, this type of infection is usually designed to silently steal personal information in the background, while others can go as far as deleting or locking you out of your own personal files.

Virus removal

Singleton Computing is experienced in removing computer viruses and other common malware. We use a combination of modern scanning software and technical knowhow to get the job done.

Given the sophistication of modern malware, it's important to note that removal can be rather difficult at times. One of the reasons for this is that many viruses are programed to re-install themselves after removal.

Unfortunately in some cases the integrity of the operating system is comprimised well beyond repair. In such cases we recommend carrying out a factory restore on the operating system in our workshop to ensure a virus free computer system. We can generally restore most virus infected systems without any data loss.

Staying protected

Your best line of defence against a computer virus is to install a trusted Antivirus product, keeping it and all other applications up to date including your operating system.

Always remain vigilant while browsing the Internet, keeping an eye out for possible fraudulent or malicious websites. Remember, if an offer sounds too good to be true, it more than likely is.

Lastly, avoid opening emails from people you don't know as there's a good chance it'll be spam, many of which contain links to malicious or inappropriate websites.
